How to Defend Against a Knife Attack

Here's a news article from a recent event where a teenager went on a rampage with a knife.
Below the article, I’ve listed some tips on what you can do when you are confronted with this type of attack.

Teen Denies Knife Attacks That Injured 28
A teenager suspected of attacking 28 people with a knife in a rampage has denied being involved, officials said Saturday, despite dozens of witness statements and the seizure of the weapon.
The 16-year-old student is under investigation for attempted murder after he was apprehended late Friday at the scene.
Police said the youth, whose name has not been released, had told them he had been drinking heavily during the celebrations and could "remember little" about what happened next.

It could be some teenager drinking, or a drug addict robbing people to pay for his next fix or it could be a gang member who comes after you with a knife.

If you have something in your hands like a purse, briefcase, keys, coins, jacket, etc; toss them at the attackers face to distract him and kick him with your heel, in a stomping manner, as though you’re stomping on the ground, only now you’re stomping a person who is standing.

Try to stomp somewhere between his knees and his stomach. This will make his head come forward, at which time you should quickly slam your forearm into his head, all the while keeping away from where the knife is pointed. If possible have your knee straight when doing this stomp so you’ll have more power and better balance.

Using your leg to stomp the attacker’s body will slow him down or stop him, and since your leg is likely to be longer than the attacker’s arm, the knife won’t even be long enough to cut you.

Apply a second kick if necessary or as many as needed to stop the attacker. When he goes to the ground, get away or stomp him some more to be sure he can no longer attack anyone. If the knife comes out of his hands, kick it far away from him and then get away.

Sincerely,

Al Abidin
