Newsletter and self-defense tip

I spent a good chunk of time on my new website (should be up in about a week) and also on my newsletter which will be coming out to everyone on my newsletter list on February 1st.

Self-defense tip:
If someone you hang out with tends to choose to go places that are pretty rough,
in that I mean there's often fights or arguements, or an atmosphere where people
are crude, then decide not go to those places with them.

This simple but effective tip will increase your personal safety.

Do you have Self-Control

"Man allegedly killed girl for taking yogurt"
This article in yesterday's paper is about a 7 year-old girl in New York who was killed.

It was difficult to read being a father who happens to have a 7 year-old girl.

Anyway, apparently, the step-father of the girl had little patience for her unruly habits of breaking toys, taking milk from her siblings, taking money from her parents and breaking their computer printer. The last straw came when she took a cup of yogurt from the refrigerator that she wasn't supposed to have.

Let me pause, right here.

If anyone reading this doesn't have enough yogurt or whatever and is tempted to harm their child because of it, get some help!

Okay. I’m a father of a 7 year-old, who’s done ranting, so…

Back to the story:

The girl’s name was Nixzmary, and after she took the yogurt, Cesar, the stepfather, went into a rage, stripping off her clothes and beating her in front of her mother. Then Cesar dragged her into the bathroom and repeatedly dunked her head under cold water. He then carried her lifeless body and tossed her into a small room.

This story reminds me how important it is to have self-control, because if you don’t you could end up like the step-father who is now going to serve 12 years in prison.

Developing self-control isn’t easy, especially if your parents didn’t model it for you.

Most of you reading this have all the self-control you need, however for those few who need more of it, here are some ways to get more of it:

1. Get a good book and read about it. (I did a search on Amazon.com and found 1,893 results for books about self-control. So there are plenty of books available.)
2. You could also talk to that person in your life that you look up to as someone who is wise, someone who has been around for awhile. (Preferably someone who displays self-control.)
3. Counseling at a local church or synagogue has helped many people overcome weaknesses and bad habits.
4. If you know someone else who’s in a similar stage in life, who also wants to be a better person, you could ask them to be your accountability friend.
   
   This means you and the other person make a commitment on things you will or won’t do and also that you’ll talk every week or so about how you’re doing. (Ideally this would be someone of the same sex if you are married.)

Man who shot John Paul II let go, vanishes

'Man who shot John Paul II let go, vanishes' was a recent headline.
Mehmet Ali Agca shot the pope on May 13,1981 , hitting the pope's abdomen, left hand
and right arm. Agca had already killed newspaper columnist Abdi Ipekci.

Agca was sentenced to death in 1980, then in 2002 his sentence was changed to life
in prison after Turkey abolished the death penalty. Then his sentence was set at
36 years, and Agca ended up serving just 25 years.

DID I MISS SOMETHING?

This man killed a journalist, and tried to kill the head of the Catholic church and Turkey
just lets him go?

It looks like Turkey is taking on the liberal, soft on crime, slap em on the wrist attitude
which is common in America today.

Make sure to learn something incase one of these maniacs ever come after you.

Garage door opener and self-defense

Today was the day I finally installed my garage door opener. We've been in our
new house for quite a while and I'm proud, well, happy because my wife is happy
about it. No more manual openings.

For those of you who are married, here's a secret I discovered a few years ago;
a husband who makes his wife happy, will be happy also. As they say, what goes
around comes around, and that works both ways so proceed with caution.

Working full-time providing self-defense instruction, online and in person can tend to keep a person pretty busy, so I need to remember to keep my loved ones happy by doing things around the house that need to be done. The browny points I'll get will be great, but also I feel a fantastic sense of accomplishment.

By the way, I also did some work on my new website that'll be going up soon.

"Young man stabbed"

Another recent headline where a 20 year old was stabbed during a family dispute at 2:30 in the morning. The man was brought to the hospital where he was treated and released.

Tips to avoid this:
-Go to bed earlier. Most crimes occur after 10 PM. Just be sure your doors and windows are securely locked EACH night.
-If one of your family members is in a gang; Try not to live a the same address. You could even ask your parents to kick them out, before a rival gang member comes around shooting up your home, killing innocent people.
-Don't drink or at least don't argue with a drunk.

Teenager Held in L.B. bus stabbing

"Teenager Held in L.B. bus stabbing".
That was in the newspaper a couple of days ago. A 19 year old stabbing a 51 year old man to death, and an unidentified woman was seriously injured.

Violence is out there everywhere. These young punks will come up to you and stab you to death for almost any reason:
-they want to take your stuff and you don't give it fast enough.
-they didn't like the way you glanced at them.
-they thought you were someone else.
-they were mad at someone else.
-they are a different race and they hate your race.
-all of the above.
-or 50 other reasons.

Here's what to do to be prepared:
-in public stay in HYPER ALERT mode at ALL TIMES! (you are watching everything and everybody, without being obvious about it.)
-If there are two or more teenagers, be ready to smash both of their faces. (avoid the nose and mouth so you don't make them bleed their diseases onto you.)
-If you haven't learned a very basic, effective and powerful system of self-defense, then get with it.

-You could throw your stuff at their feet as you run away.
-Don't walk backwards. You'll probably walk straight into the baseball bat of the attacker's buddies as they break it over the back of your head.
-avoid shortcuts through rough areas. It only takes one time to fall into danger.

Raw footage of Big Kuta videos ready soon

Yesterday I received a raw footage of the Big Kuta videos on dvd.
These dvd's only have some basic editing done to them.

We will only be making 20 sets of these videos.
I say set because it's a 6 dvd set with over 7 hour of footage.

I'll post details here as we get closer.

These are version that I will be watching for final approval.
